What is a Cross Bow?
A crossbow is an ancient weapon, composed of a bow mounted on a stock that launches projectiles, known as bolts. A mechanism in the stock allows the bow to be in its fully-drawn position at all times. The crossbow is fully-drawn until it is shot by releasing a trigger. These danderous weapons are known for their role in Asian and European warfare. Today however, crossbows are mainly used for target shooting and sport hunting. It is likely that the crossbow was first used by tribes of South-Eastern Asia, where today it is still used by the hunter-gatherer and nomad tribes, both for hunting, warfare, and “toys”.

Evolution of Archery
The equipment used in archery has improved significantly since medieval times.  While primitive bows were not very accurate, today's bows can accurately launch arrows at speeds over 148 miles (240 kilometers) per hour.  Today's bows are a combination of wood, fiberglass, lightweight metals, and high-technology materials.  Historically from early childhood children were provided with bows according to their height and are taught to shoot.

Today archery thrives as a competitive sport.  Competitive archers have abandoned wooden bows and arrows in favor of new high-performance materials like fiberglass and laminated carbon.

Tips to Accurate Archery Shooting
The first thing you want to do to maintain accurate archery shooting is to periodically check your bow for proper tuning and your arrows for proper flight. You also want to make sure you number your arrows, so if one of your arrows is consistently out of your normal grouping you can easily determine if it is the same arrow every time. You don't necessarily have to toss the arrow away because you might just be able to tune it and get it to fly true again.

Hunting with a bow and arrow is far more challenging than with a firearm. A bow hunter needs greater skill, as they must get much closer to the targets than hunters with guns. For this reason, among many others, archery 3D targets are a great way to get practice for new hunters or those looking to become more skilled. The sport, of archery is considered one of the oldest traditions. The earliest people known to have used the bow and arrow were the ancient Egyptians, who adopted the weapon at least 5000 years ago. Different Types of Archery Competition

Archery Arrows
Archery arrows are the single most important thing, besides the bow itself. Without a good arrow, your aim will always be off, and you will constantly have to compensate to aim properly. There are several different archery arrows, and all of them have different purposes.

The stiffness of the spine (the stiffness of the shaft of the arrow) will effect how much the arrow wobbles after being shot from the bow.

Archery Competition
Archery has long been used in warfare and hunting. A great amount of skill and practice is required to become a skilled archer. For this reason, archery is now considered a sport and an archery competition is held in many parts of the world. Taking part in an archery competition allows sportsmen to show off their skill and athletic prowess in an ancient ritual. It is generally believed that the bow an arrow was invented to be used in game hunting.

History of Bow Hunting
The bow was man's chief weapon down through the ages until the invention of firearms. With the bow, man hunted for food and protected himself from his enemies. The great military nations of the past gained their ascendency through the ability of their archers. Over eight hundred years ago the Mongol horde was turned back into Asia by the long bow. With the advent of firearms, the use of the bow in English warfare rapidly declined, although archery was enjoyed widely as a sport during the middle ages. The Scots today compete for a silver arrow dated 1603.
